Bildiagnos i Utby — from Google Sites to a conversion-driven site in three languages
A local auto workshop with the digital presence of a premium brand — in Swedish, English and Spanish.
Summary
Bildiagnos i Utby is an auto workshop in eastern Gothenburg offering everything from servicing and diagnostics to specialised work such as ECU cloning and key programming. Their digital presence was a single Google Sites page — no service descriptions, no booking flow, no trust signals. We designed and built a new multilingual website with conversion and local visibility as the guiding principles.
The challenge
The old Google Sites page created friction at every step: visitors found no clear service descriptions, no simple way to book a time, and none of the trust signals that separate a serious workshop from the rest. For customers who compare several workshops before booking — one of the workshop's most important audiences — the impression fell short.
There was also no foundation for local SEO at all, even though searches like “bilverkstad Utby” and “AC-service Göteborg” are exactly where new customers are. A large share of the customer base is English- and Spanish-speaking, which the old page did not serve in any way.
Our work
- Discovery: Mapped the service range, the audiences (car owners in Utby, Gothenburg and Partille — across three languages) and the competitive landscape for local search. Identified NAP consistency (name, address, phone) as the critical foundation for local SEO.
- Strategy: Conversion-driven information architecture with one landing page per service, clear CTAs (“Book a time”, “Call now”, “Request a quote”) on every page, and a multilingual structure (sv/en/es) with correct hreflang and localised metadata. Readability and conversion before effects.
- Delivery: Next.js 15 + Tailwind CSS 4 with Convex as the realtime database, Clerk for admin sign-in and Resend for lead notifications. Mobile-first, accessibility requirements (contrast, keyboard navigation, focus states) and Core Web Vitals optimisation from the start.
What we built
- Multilingual website (Swedish/English/Spanish) with next-intl, dedicated URLs and per-language metadata — plus AI-assisted content translation at the press of a button
- Nine local service pages (servicing, diagnostics, repairs, AC service, pre-inspection, brake testing, wheel alignment, ECU cloning, key service) — each SEO-optimised for Gothenburg/Utby/Partille
- Booking and contact form built for workshop enquiries (registration number, requested service, problem description) with spam protection and automatic lead emails
- Blog with an admin interface — posts stored in Convex and managed through Clerk-authenticated sign-in, with multilingual support
- Local SEO foundation: LocalBusiness/AutoRepair schema markup, XML sitemap, hreflang and consistent NAP across header, footer, contact page and structured data
- Conversion tracking: GA4/GTM with events for booking clicks, phone clicks, form submissions and language switches
Results
The site launched in May 2026 and measurement is running via Google Analytics and Search Console. The old Google Sites page had no measurement at all, so figures are reported from zero once the first measurement period closes.
