RF-SISU – seven clubs, seven recruitment films

Seven clubs, seven short films and the same question at the end: would you like to find a sports club near you?

Summary

RF-SISU commissioned seven short recruitment films, one for each sports club: Angered BC, Angereds IS, Assyriska BK, Hammarkullens BK, Hisingens Rugbyklubb, Victory Dance Academy and Önnereds HK. We shot all seven in one week in February 2021. The films are 30–59 seconds long and went through the same steps, from preparation to sign-off. Their purpose is on the end card: to help more people find a sports club near them.

The brief

The brief was a short film for each of seven clubs in Gothenburg. Every film opens the same way, with “SISU presenterar” (SISU presents) and the club's name and badge. Then the club gets to show what it does.

All seven end with the same card: “Vill ni hitta en idrottsförening nära er? Kontakta RF-SISU i ert distrikt.” (Would you like to find a sports club near you? Contact RF-SISU in your district.) That makes them recruitment films. They are there to help more people find a club near them.

It's easier to walk into a new club when you've seen what it looks like inside. That's what we wanted the films to show.

One week in February

We shot all seven films in one week, 7–11 February 2021. Each club took roughly one to two hours.

It was winter, and it shows. Football and rugby on snow-covered pitches, boxing, basketball, handball and dance indoors.

The same steps for all seven

Seven films in a short time needs order. So every film went through the same steps, in the same order:

  • Preparation: the club's logo, licensed music and GDPR consent for each club.
  • Filming: roughly one to two hours per club.
  • Post-production: editing, sound and effects.
  • Sign-off: each film was sent for approval before it was finished.
  • Delivery: one full-quality file and one compressed version.

We wanted to show where the clubs train and what it looks like when they do.

The same ending in all seven

However different the films are, they end the same way: with RF-SISU's end card and a question for the viewer.

Earlier: a film about Move Beyond

In autumn 2020 we made a film about Move Beyond, an Erasmus+ project in which RF-SISU Västra Götaland and Rädda Barnen (Save the Children Sweden) worked together. The project trained leaders with a refugee background, who then ran sports events of their own.

We made the storyboard and the interviews, and translated and subtitled 14 interviews in Swedish and English. The film exists in a Swedish and an English version.
